About Taiwan Medical Mission
Taiwan (Republic of China, R.O.C.) and the Kingdom of Eswatini have diplomatic relations for more than half a century. In 2008, Taiwan government sent a team of medical specialists and nurses to stay in Eswatini after the first bilateral medical cooperation agreement signed in September 2007. This cooperation between the two countries have distinct goals for improving the medical standards, expanding community services, and beneficial to the local people. Since 2009, Taipei Medical University (TMU) has been commissioned by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Foundation (ICDF) to undertake the medical mission project in the Kingdom of Eswatini. The first appointed chief is Dr. Chi-Cheng Tu. The affiliated hospital of the University, Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH), is in charge of the planning and support of professional medical treatment and medical staffs assignment. In 2012, TMU directly signed a medical service cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Health (MOH) of the Kingdom of Eswatini. In addition, Dr. Say-Tsung Liao conducted a six-year medical education plan in TMM from 2019 to 2024. TMM continues the efforts to strengthen the communication efficiency and depth of cooperation with medical society in the Eswatini.
